Hard to write, but we have some tips for writing your wedding vows!
We’re sure you’ve seen the cringey tiktoks and reels about that one guy reading his “vows”. Don’t be that guy!!
Many people think that they have to write their wedding vows a couple of weeks out or even the day of the wedding! Others tend to put their vows off. However, our biggest tip for writing your wedding vows is to start early. We recommend as early as 3 months out for sitting down and writing your thoughts out, but…
One of the things that has saved couples is to write down little notes throughout your engagement. These can be things that you love about each other, little quotes that you read in a book, or love stories you watch on television. Having little nuggets to incorporate into your wedding vows makes them easier to write and more thoughtful!
Ideally, you’d want your wedding vows to be within the same general word count and timing. Trying to keep them around the same time is ideal, especially if you’re incorporating them into your wedding video. We recommend about 2 to 3 minutes per couple, or about 250-300 words. This gives each partner time to incorporate nuggets about your love story, the qualities you love about your partner, and little promises.
You want your vows to be sweet, but you might also want to throw a little giggle in there. Avoid anything embarrassing or uncomfortable. There’s no need to embarass your partner on your wedding day, but it is okay to throw an inside joke or two in there!
Whether you are reading them privately with your partner or in front of your loved ones during your ceremony, make sure to practice! Make sure they flow well and make sense.
There’s nothing more disappointing than getting back your wedding video and the vows not being clear or able to be heard. Many videographers suggest building a few minutes into your timeline to read your vows privately in a quiet room. This ensures a good quality sound that will fit beautifully into your video!
Daisy + Sun Events is more than happy to help you with your vows if you’re needing someone to run them by. We’ve heard lots of different ones and would love to help you!
