Is hiring a coordinator/planner really necessary?

Planning your own wedding? Amazing! Admirable, even! But for some, it sounds like a drag and super stressful, especially on top of work, school, or other obligations. There’s nothing wrong with asking for help! Hiring a wedding planner could also turn your day into something better than ever! There are so many amazing things about having a coordinator or planner by your side through planning the wedding. 

One (huge) reason for hiring a wedding planner, or at least a coordinator, is that they can bring your vision to life. You have so much going on the day of and the days before, you don’t have time to decorate every aspect of your day while also pampering yourself, finishing planning details, and getting your hair and makeup done. This is why it is so important to have a coordinator or planner throughout the process, too. Without one, you might have gaps and holes throughout your planning ideas. 

Budgets are SO hard to manage throughout the wedding planning process, especially if you don’t have someone holding you to it. I am a 2022 bride and I went wayyy over my budget! I didn’t have anybody holding me accountable, and of course my future husband wants me to have EVERY single thing, even if it wasn’t in our budget. This definitely created some problems with saving (haha). Having somebody by your side who has been through it is important, as well as having somebody who knows the industry and can negotiate pricing with people they have worked with. For example, you may think “oh a wedding dress couldn’t be more than $800!” but what you’re looking for runs closer to $2,000!

We can problem solve and make sure that the things that go wrong on your day are never heard by you until way after. It is YOUR day, and you need to relax and not be stressed out by the big or small things that happen. As your wedding planner or coordinator, I will ensure that you think things are perfect, even when they might not be. 

Weddings are stressful enough! Without a planner or coordinator, I can promise you the stress is multiplied by 100. Yes, your aunt may be super organized, but that doesn’t mean that she’s meant to handle your event of 200 people and ensure every detail goes perfectly. 

We are timeline professionals. If you have never made a wedding timeline, chances are you won’t understand how much time needs to be budgeted for your first dance, wedding recessional, or budget in those extra five minutes in between things to have time to go to the bathroom! It is a full time job making sure things happen exactly when they are supposed to, and frankly, you can’t be glued to the timeline poster every second of the night while simultaneously enjoying your wedding day.

Like I said before, your aunt may be the perfect person to manage your bridal shower of 10, but she should also be able to enjoy your day and have a good time at your wedding celebrating you and your new partner, instead of running around putting out any fires.
