If you’ve done some research, you’ve probably learned that there are definite dos and definite don’ts of wedding timelines. Let’s get into some of them!

DO:
Lay out all of the details – seriously, the more detailed, the better.
List important addresses – the getting ready location for each partner, the venue address, etc.
Put details surrounding the days prior to your wedding – nail appointments, rehearsal times, etc.
Add in lots of extra time. Account for bathroom breaks, extra time to get dressed, etc.
Allot for 30ish minutes to get dressed. It takes longer to get in a wedding dress/suit than you think!
If you’re moving locations at all, add in 15 extra minutes of time to get to where you’re going.
Take time to step away with your partner alone.
DON’T:
Don’t send a wedding timeline to everyone. They don’t need to know where you’ll be at all times.
Don’t ignore the flow of everything. You don’t want to pull people into one room then back out and then back in again.
If you can manage it, don’t leave all the photos for after the ceremony. First looks can be so beneficial.
Don’t expect things to run exactly on schedule. The average wedding timeline runs behind by about 15-30 minutes.
Don’t forget to eat. Schedule time to do this.
Don’t forget to plan for sunset photos. Most of the time, sunset photos happen about 30 minutes before sunset. (Hint: if you like blue hour photos, schedule those, too!)
