DJ or Live Band?
When deciding on wedding entertainment, you are most likely deciding on a dj or live band. There are definitely pros and cons of each!
There are also a few factors to decipher on when deciding between a dj or live band, like budget, theme, wedding goals, etc.
Pros of a DJ:
- It tends to be more budget-friendly
- You can play any type of song – there’s no limits
- Your DJ can feel out the crowd to see what goes well
- Less space is needed for a DJ
- You can switch between genres and styles easily
Cons of a DJ:
- There’s a lack of live performance – live bands can definitely provide more visual entertainment
- It might not feel as personal
- It feels like the same songs that everyone else plays at a wedding
Pros of a live band:
- Can be considered to be more fun
- More performative and personal
- Visually entertaining
Cons of a live band:
- Much more space is needed
- More budget is needed for entertainment
- Music style tends to be the same
Either way, both options are great! Having a good entertainer (whether that be a good DJ or a good live band) is crucial. It really does make or break a wedding. We often see other couples cheap out on their wedding entertainment, which we get can feel like an easy way to save money, but it determines so many things for your day. Without a good DJ or live band, people won’t be on the dance floor, more people will sit at their tables, and more people will leave earlier. If you want your wedding to feel like a big party (heck yeah!), then hire the DJ!
